Time is of the essence
The pursuit of living longer is nothing new. Even Louis XIII’s attempts to famously defy medical science stretch back as far as the 17th Century. After all, living to a ripe old age does allow us to spend more time with the people we care about and keeps us doing the things we love for longer
Time flies while we’re having fun, but it also has a lasting impact on our bodies... even if we might not want to admit it.
A common misconception is that we are powerless over the ageing process. Instead, we must accept the cards that nature has dealt for us – and hope we come up trumps.
The good news is that we have more control of our ‘healthspan’ than we think. And finding the time to look after ourselves now may well give us more of it in the future.
Of course, illness can happen to all of us – no matter what we do – but increasingly we are learning about what lifestyle changes we can make to improve our chances of doing our thing for a bit longer.
At Vitality, we even see in our own data that inactive members who take steps to get heathier live on average up to five years longer1.
We know what you’re thinking… there are 100s of things that you ‘should’ be doing for your health, but you cannot find the time – the irony!
So, to save you precious hours devising a list of what you can do for your health today, we at Vitality Magazine have put one together for you.
To be clear, we’re not saying that you should implement every single one of these suggestions into your daily life... who’s got time for that?
Even if our list of 100 ways to live a longer, healthier life inspires you to do just one extra thing for your health during 2025, then it has been a success in our view. And it may even help you keep doing the things you love, for longer.
Whether it’s knowing how to unwind, worrying less about weight loss or looking after your pearly whites, why not try just one of these and see if you feel the difference – what have you got to lose?
Who knows, it may even buy you some more time...
