A NOTE FROM NEVILLE

NEVILLE KOOPOWITZ CEO, VITALITY
With the cricket season in full swing and warmer weather with us, we’re delighted to welcome our newest Vitality Ambassadors, England Cricket’s Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sophia Dunkley, to the interactive cover of our Spring/Summer special edition. With the Women's T20 turning 20 in 2024 and record numbers tuning in on TV to watch The Women's Ashes last year, it feels like exactly the right time to celebrate the seemingly unstoppable rise of women's sport and the enormous benefits it is bringing to individuals and to society (page 9).
Elsewhere in the UK, it's clear from national statistics that our country is not getting any healthier. The good news, however, is that we recently conducted some fascinating research with the London School of Economics revealing that adopting just one healthy habit can add years to our individual life expectancy, and collectively help save the NHS billions of pounds by preventing ill-health. We explore this on our news page (page 4). In a similar vein, 'knowing our numbers' through regular health assessments and fitness tracking is another way to help us live longer, healthier lives. That's why we visited Rangers FC to discover how they use wearable technology and player health data to gain fine margins on and off the pitch (page 12). Elsewhere, we sit down with Vitality Ambassador Jonny Wilkinson to hear how he defines happiness from a mental wellbeing perspective (page 7) and also unpack the unexpected benefits of weight training during a workout with Gabby Logan (page 11). We also hear a hugely inspirational story about how gold medallist and one of the Vitality Performance Champions, Crista Cullen, built an eco-home out of mud bricks in Kenya (page 15), at a time when we can all agree that a more sustainable way of life has never been more needed. We hope you enjoy this issue.
